Our Mission Abroad

Monks help people to find their way, in faith and in life. As Missionary Benedictines we have been engaged in pastoral care, health, education and the environment for more than 100 years. We do this in dialogue with the resident cultures.

From the early stations, Benedictine Missions have evolved over the decades into independent dioceses which, almost without exception, are under the leadership of native Bishops.
Within the framework of the local church, monks of various nationalities, cultures and tribal origin, live together in monastic communities. They spend their lives in the service of developing disadvantaged regions. Through their presence and service, they bear credible witness to God's love, which is granted to everyone.

We are present in Tanzania, South Africa, South Korea and the Philippines. We also work closely with missions in Uganda, Kenya, Southwest India, China and Cuba.

Our Mission activities adjust themselves to people's questions and concerns in order to provide answers to the challenges of our time.

Our projects include providing hospitals and schools, clean drinking water and reforestation.

The Benedictine Mission is to be in discussion and dialogue with the cultural and religious traditions of the people on-the-spot.

Naturally, we are involved in pastoral care, not only in the parishes, but also in our guest houses.
